Good Morning All!  Hope everyone is having a good week.  Here in the South we are getting much needed rain.  Humidity is a little high but the rain is nice.

Lets talk about your air conditioning condenser.  Most people think that since the condenser is outside in the elements that there isn't any maintenance to keep up.  But actually there is.

First you should make sure there are no Shrubs, plants, walls or screening blocking the air flow to the condenser.  The condenser needs adequate air flow around it to operate correctly.  I recommend a clearance of at least 18 inches.

Check back tomorrow for more Air Conditioning Maintenance Tips.

A Maintained A/C is a Dependable A/C!

Thank You for Reading.

A good example of not enough Air Flow.

  1. So whats your advice about self-serving the AC unit with freon. Should I, can I do it myself and where would i get the freon or should i let a AC company service the unit.

  2. It is actually against the law to handle Freon unless you are EPA certified. You cannot legally buy Freon unless you are EPA Certified. So You need to contact an A/C Company. More than likely you have R22 Freon and right now the cost has really skyrocketed. I would not be surprised if you pay $40.00 per pound.
